This morning, I was in one of my meditation sessions… bte3rafoo men kotor el sho3'ol ya3nee… and this one big thought kept hitting me… over and over again…really…
We're Arabs, at least I know I am… none of my parents is foreign or has any foreign roots anywhere outside the Arab-world…still we can't get through a conversation without using foreign words here and there…and you'll say "ya zalameh…sho ya3nee"…
Ana bagollak wo bagollek sho ya3nee… it means a lot…it means that you're either not convinced of your own mother tongue and culture…or that you're unwilling to learn to express yourself in your language…it's a sure thing you may say…that it's easier to express myself in English…that’s because you've been doin' it this way most of your life… lets try to make a change…with a little extra effort…be different…have an identity… for a change ya3nee…coz if you don’t know…we're starting to lose it…don’t you wanna stand up in a crowd…
Anyway…it's not the only problem that's been troubling me…the other problem…is us being cranky people…who always find the negativity of things attractive to talk about…in other words…we keep bitching about our community and we don’t try to make an effort 2 change it…coz if you don’t know…there wont be no fairy that would come with a magic wand and change it…it's you …me and all people around us…who would make the change…stand up in the face of every wrong practice , habit or routine we get in…and try to motivate people around us to make a change…try to build up a new infrastructure to our community… of a strong enlightened ideologies…and motivated and optimized practices…"Sho hal 7akee el kbeer"…no really…try to take it seriously…
So in my opinion… the first steps to make such change …is stop the indifference that shows in our every day's actions…try to have a pause in our life…and differentiate what's wrong from what's right…and stop every wrong practice no matter how trivial it may seem… let others learn by example…
Finally…lets look at the situation we have at hand right now… I'm an Arab who's talking about the importance of improving our skills in expressing ourselves using our own mother tongue…Isn't Ironic??...don't you think…??
A friend of mine Sary Assad had a post in "his blog" about that topic…and I think he used Arabic in a really nice way…check it out…and I'll be gradually switching from now on to Arabic…Let's All do it…
